Ceramic Fibre Blankets

Ceramic and Bio Soluble Fibre

Ceramic fibre blankets and Bio Soluble fibre blankets are a lightweight insulating product.
Ceramic Fibre has low heat storage, low thermal conductivity and is an extremely effective insulator. It is resistant to thermal shock due to its nature which makes it suitable for many applications where other more traditional refractories are not suitable due to the application. Ceramic fibre is made from high purity Alumina - Silica materials. Ceramic fibre is produced by melting these products and using the latest spinning technologies creates a fibre of consistent length to allow blanket to be laid and needled or turned into many of the other ceramic fibre products.

The ceramic fibre blankets that we carry covers all thicknesses and densities. With a temperature range of 1260C for standard and 1425 C for Zirconia blanket most applications can be easily accommodated. For applications of higher requirements other specialty products are available upon request. The 1260 blanket is a strong durable product, which is double needled giving it a good handling characteristic. The Zirconia blanket to 1425 C has a percentage of zircon as part of the blanket and is made from high purity raw materials. This blanket has properties, which help reduce shrinkage and make it suitable for continuous use at elevated temperatures.

Bio Soluble Fibre

As well as traditional Ceramic Fibre are the new Bio-Soluble or Low Bio-Persistance fibres. These products are made using Silica, Calcium and Magnesia. These fibre products have the similar properties as the standard ceramic fibre range of material. Due to the nature of their material they are considered Non Hazardous. The SUPERWOOL, ISOWOOL and ISOFRAX material are being used more in industry due to these properties. We are pleased to be able to offer these products to meet your requirements

Applications for these material include -

  • Furnace linings, Hot Face, intermediate and back up
  • Flexible pipe insulation
  • Expansion joints
  • Seals
  • Fire protection
  • Kiln Linings
  • Packing for high temperatures

Ceramic fibre and the Low Bio-Persistance products are also made into a comprehensive range of items including -

  • Modules
  • Paper
  • Board
  • Textiles rope and braid
  • And many specialty items
