 Our range of refractory plastics will suit a wide variety of applications. Refractory plastics can be when no formwork is available, or when brick or castables are too difficult or too awkward to use.
Plastic refractory is generally placed using either a bricklayers hammer, or a pneumatic hammer. The material is built up in layers until the approximate size and shape is achieved. The work is then trimmed to size and shape, with the face left rough. This rough face enables easier removal of moisture. The work is then ready for venting, and is either left for some time to air harden, or fired shortly after placement to remove moisture. Firing cures the plastic, giving it hardness and density.
 We stock both the Chemical/Heat Setting and the Heat Setting plastics as standards, and supply dry ramming on request.
Our stock products are high alumina chemical/heat setting plastics with a phosphate bond and heat set plastic with a clay bond.
All have good strength, resistance to molten metals and slags as well as high abrasion resistance and spall resistance. Application includes boiler work, ladle linings; forge furnaces, tundish linings, burner blocks and patches.
